Last week, the community gathered in festive spirit for the annual Light Up Loughor celebration. The evening saw the switching on of St David’s Church Christmas Tree lights, casting a warm glow across the heart of Loughor. Adding to the spectacle, the Globe Field lights were illuminated, creating a dazzling display. With carols, laughter, and the sparkle of lights, the event marked the perfect start to the Christmas season.

This year’s Christmas Lantern Parade was a truly brilliant celebration, bringing warmth and light to the winter season. The streets of Gorseinon sparkled with hundreds of handmade lanterns, each glowing with holiday cheer as families and local groups joined the procession. Music, and laughter filled the air, while the dazzling designs—from footballs, stars and angels to Christmas trees and reindeer—captured the magic of the season and to finish off the evening a visit to Santa’s Grotto.

Many thanks to all who helped out on the day and in the evening.

The community came together in solemn reflection for this year’s Remembrance Day Parade. Local residents, veterans, and dignitaries gathered to honour the courage and sacrifice of those who served in conflicts past and present. The wreaths were laid at the monument, accompanied by the sound of the Last Post and a moment of silence. It was a moving tribute that united generations in gratitude and remembrance, ensuring that the legacy of service and sacrifice continues to be honoured
