Councillor Wilf Smith was elected to the role of Mayor at the Council's Annual General Meeting on 12th May 2025.

In March 2016 Councillor Wilfred Smith joined Llwchwr Town Council, his aim was to be a source of support and advice for his local community in Garden Village. Councillor Smith and his wife, Linda, have lived in Garden Village since 1972.  Councillor Smith is now retired but prior to his retirement he worked for major retail for 24 years. In his retirement he has been very proactive with all types of issues that residents have brought to him e.g. Councillor Smith took up the fight to reopen a Post Office in Garden Village and won the case, doggedly fighting on behalf of his community for close to 2 years.

 

In the little spare time he has Councillor Smith enjoys going to the gym a few times a week. Keeping himself fighting fit to take on any other issues that may be brought to him.

 

In April 2024 he was voted in as Deputy Mayor for his constituency and having completed that year was then voted in as Mayor for the municipal year 2025/26. Councillor Smith, together with his wife, Linda, said what a great privilege this was for them and that they were looking forward to meeting the local community through the presentations, charity functions and other council initiatives throughout the year.
