The Council was delighted by the fantastic response to this year’s Bloomin’ Lovely Garden Competition 2026. We received a wonderful range of entries from across the community, showcasing beautiful gardens, colourful displays, and the dedication and creativity of local residents. The standard was exceptionally high which is making the judging process both enjoyable and very challenging.
We would like to thank everyone who took part and helped make this year’s competition such a success. Every entrant should be proud of their efforts and the contribution they make to brightening our community. The winners will be announced on 3 August 2026, and we look forward to celebrating the outstanding gardens that have impressed Our judge, Maggie Carr.

Mayor's Mutt Strutt
The Mayor’s Mutt Strutt marked the first event in the Mayor’s 2026 fundraising programme, bringing together local residents and their four-legged friends for a fun and community-focused day. The event provided an opportunity for dog owners and animal lovers to enjoy a leisurely walk, meet fellow residents and support local causes championed by the Mayor.

The Mayor's Strawberry Festival, held at Jireh Church, was a wonderful success, bringing together members of the community for an enjoyable afternoon of friendship, refreshments and fundraising. Thanks to the generosity and support of everyone who attended, the event raised an impressive £389 for the Mayor's chosen charities. The Mayor would like to extend sincere thanks to Jireh Church, volunteers, supporters and all those who contributed to making the event such a success

Llwchwr Town Council Awards 2026
Llwchwr Town Council recently hosted the 2026 Awards Evening celebrating the outstanding dedication of local residents who go above and beyond for our community. The event recognised individuals and groups whose commitment, generosity, and hard work continue to strengthen the spirit of Loughor. During the evening, the Deputy Mayor was also delighted to present a cheque for £800 to one of the Mayor’s chosen charities, Loughor Inshore Lifeboat, in support of their vital work.

Twmpath/Barn Dance 2026
The Twmpath Barn Dance at Loughor Welfare Hall was a great success, filling the hall with energy, laughter and plenty of lively foot‑stomping. Coppercailie Home | 'Coppercaillie' Swansea Ceilidh Band lit up the room with their brilliant music, keeping everyone on their feet and smiling from start to finish. It was one of those nights where the community came together, had a fantastic time, and left already talking about the next one. Keep an eye out for more events like this throughout the year — you won’t want to miss them.
Cawl a Chan
Our recent Cawl a Chan evening was a true celebration of community spirit, great food, and brilliant music. The hall was filled with warmth and laughter as friends, families, and neighbours came together to enjoy a relaxed and memorable night.
As always Loughor Town Band played with their trademark energy, precision, and passion. The music and singing from the audience created an uplifting atmosphere of fun and enjoyment.
Alongside the music, guests were fed with hearty bowls of traditional Welsh cawl, rolls and plenty of good conversation. It was the perfect combination of comfort and culture, and the smiles around the room said it all.
We’re grateful to everyone who attended, supported and helped make the evening such a success. Events like this remind us how special it is to come together as a community.
We’re already looking forward to the next one.
GRANTS & PRESENTATIONS 2026
Llwchwr Town Council is pleased to support Parc Williams Bowls Club with a grant of £200. This funding will help the club continue to provide opportunities for local residents to participate in bowls, promoting health, wellbeing and community engagement. The Council is proud to support organisations such as Parc Williams Bowls Club that play an important role in bringing people together and enhancing community life in the town.
Llwchwr Town Council is pleased to announce that back in March 2026 a community grant was awarded to 3M Road Runners, recognising the club’s ongoing contribution to health, wellbeing and community engagement across the local area.
The 3M Road Runners are a positive presence within the community, encouraging residents of Loughor and the surrounding area of all ages and abilities to take part in running and fitness. Their inclusive approach and commitment to supporting both new and experienced runners make them a valued local organisation.
The grant provided by Llwchwr Town Council will support the club in continuing its programme of activities, helping to fund training and promote healthy lifestyles.
Mayor Beynon and consort, Mrs Mags Jones, expressed their appreciation for the work carried out by the club and highlighted the importance of supporting groups that strengthen community spirit and improve wellbeing.
Llwchwr Town Council looks forward to seeing the continued success of 3M Road Runners and the positive impact they bring to the area.
Mayor Beynon together with Mrs Mags Jones, Consort, presented a donation to Jireh Food Bank for the sum of £800, the food bank was one of the Mayor’s chosen charities for the 2025/26 civic year and this donation was part of the monies raised throughout that year.
Jireh Food Bank provides food parcels, practical assistance and support to residents experiencing financial hardship, which is why it was chosen again to be one of the Mayor’s Charities for 2026/27, it will benefit from fundraising activities and events throughout the coming year.
The Council extends its thanks to everyone involved with Jireh Food Bank and look forward to continuing to support their work over the coming year.
Mayor Wilf Smith was proud to support the 1st Loughor Brownies by providing grant funding to help them attend an exciting PGL adventure in France. This opportunity will allow the girls to build confidence, develop new skills and create unforgettable memories as they take part in a range of outdoor activities and cultural experiences. Enabling young people to access enriching opportunities like this is at the heart of our mission, and we’re delighted to play a part in making this trip possible for the Brownies.
We are delighted to award grant funding to the 1st Lliw Valley (Loughor) Scouts, helping them take part in an exciting PGL experience in France. This trip will give the young people the chance to challenge themselves, try new activities, and strengthen their teamwork in a fun and supportive environment. Supporting opportunities that broaden horizons and build confidence and we’re proud to help make this memorable adventure possible for the Scouts.
Llwchwr Town Council were happy to support Swansea Falcons with a grant of £200. Swansea Falcons will be representing Wales and the UK at The Summit Championship in Florida, USA. An outstanding achievement and we wish this hardworking and dedicated team all the very best.

We’re excited to see how this support helps them grow and inspire even more people.
Mayor Wilf Smith spent a lovely morning with Vision Impaired West Glamorgan learning about the work they do for visually impaired residents in the area and presenting them with a grant in the sum of £200 to help them continue providing social opportunities and vital peer support.
Vision Impaired are part of Sight Life Wales and they meet the first Wednesday of every month 10am at Gorseinon Institute Swansea.

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS 2026
Llwchwr Town Council was honoured to mark a remarkable milestone as the Mayor presented Ron Alderman with a special award in celebration of his 90th birthday. The presentation recognised Ron’s long‑standing contribution to the community and his many years of dedication to local life. Surrounded by warm wishes and appreciation, the occasion highlighted the deep respect and gratitude felt for Mr Alderman.
Mayor Wilf Smith had the honour of presenting a special commemorative plaque to Janet Dicks as she celebrated her 90th birthday.
Janet has been a cherished member of our community for decades, and it was a joy to recognise her remarkable milestone.
Wishing Janet continued health, happiness, and many more wonderful years surrounded by family and friends.
